Advent Midweek Services

The season of Advent begins on Sunday, December 3rd . As is the custom in most Lutheran
churches, we will have Advent midweek services beginning on Wednesday, December 6th . The
midweek service each week provides opportunity for us to spend more time together in hearing
God’s Word, praying and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19). With our
meditation on God’s Word, we will be preparing our hearts and minds to celebrate the
Incarnation of the Son of God at Christmas.

The theme for our midweek services is “We Three Kings of Israel Are”. Of course, that is a play
on the title of an Epiphany song “We Three Kings of Orient Are”. However, before there were
foreign “kings” who visited the infant Jesus there were real kings that God raised up for the
sake of His people, Israel. These kings foreshadowed the work of the King of Kings, Jesus. The
most famous of these kings of Israel are Saul, David, and Solomon. Each Wednesday evening,
we will hear what God’s Word has to say about each king and how Jesus’ work and ministry is
previewed in their reigns.

Christmas Eve, 10:45 AM and 7:00 PM

Please join us Sunday, December 24 at 10:45 AM for Divine Service and again at 7:00 PM for Lessons and Carols.
